Jackie Chan and Sylvester Stallone are teamed to star in Ex-Baghdad, a timely action thriller that Scott Waugh has been set to direct.

In the world of action cinema, there are certain names that immediately evoke greatness in the mind of most, names such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, and Jason Statham. Two other names most definitely on that elite list of big-screen ass kickers are Stallone and Chan, who continue to wow moviegoers while being well into their senior years.

Jackie Chan (Rush Hour, Shanghai Knights) and Sylvester Stallone (Rocky, The Expendables) have joined the cast of the upcoming film Ex-Baghdad, according to Deadline. The duo will be directed by Scott Waugh (6 Below, Need for Speed). It is an $80 million budget action film that becomes one of the biggest budget films to come out of China. Chan will serve as a producer through his company SR Media, with Qi Jianhong and Talent International’s Esmond Ren.  SR Media and Talent International will also finance the film. Hans Canosa is also producing.

Ex-Baghdad’s plot centers on a Chinese-run oil refinery located in Mosul, Iraq that gets attacked, presumably by terrorists. The owners of the refinery then call Chan’s character – a private security contractor – to come in and rescue the trapped oil workers. However, much like Hans Gruber and company, these attackers are less interested in causing terror and more interested in stealing a fortune in oil. To stop this insidious plan, Chan teams up with a former American marine (Stallone), and sets out to stop the bad guys.

Sylvester Stallone is known for his work in the Rocky franchise and The Expendables franchise. He wrote a number of the films as well as directed them. Stallone was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay for Rocky in 1977. He can currently be seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Jackie Chan is an accomplished martial artist known for his acting work in films like Rush Hour, Shanghai Knights, The Karate Kid remake and The Legend of Drunken Master. He is the voice of Monkey in the Kung Fu Panda franchise and the animated TV series The Jackie Chan Adventures.

Scott Waugh is known for directing Need for Speed, starring Aaron Paul and Dominic Cooper, Act of Valor, and the upcoming 6 Below, starring Josh Hartnett and Mira Sorvino. He’s also worked on stunts in everything from the TV series Sleeper Cell to the films Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Princess Diaries and Coyote Ugly.

As of right now, no filming schedule or release timetable has been specified, but whenever Ex-Baghdad does finally arrive, one can rest assured that action fans the world over will be watching. Chan is one of the most recognizable and bankable names on the worldwide scene while Stallone is another who has more value outside the US than domestically.
